Why did this happen? 
 How to find meaning? 
When tragedy strikes 
 without warning. 
The loss of a life 
 that was only beginning. 
Taken too soon. 
 Find no silver lining.  

Deeply loved by all, 
 lived life to the full. 
Experienced more 
 than many ever will. 
Fearless and strong, 
 always full throttle. 
A bright future awaited, 
 limitless potential.  

The death of a child, 
 tragically superfluous. 
Possibilities ahead, 
 just cracking the surface. 
With us a brief time, 
 a gift from the universe. 
Brings preciousness of life 
 into sharp focus.  

Stark reminder 
 of life’s fragility. 
No warning sign, 
 shock of finality. 
Unbearably sad 
 for grieving family. 
Bereft, holding only 
 treasured memories.  

The agony of burying 
 a son, or a daughter. 
Unimaginable pain, 
 not the natural order. 
Held in our hearts, 
 a child forever. 
Tonight we hold loved ones 
 a little bit closer.  

As we come together 
 to say goodbye, 
Hearts are breaking, 
 can’t help but cry. 
As shock sinks in, 
 can't be denied.
Lost in confusion, 
 Asking, "Why?"
